When Niagara College’s legacy unified communications no longer met the needs of their substantial growth, they needed a partner to modernize their unified communications to deliver dynamic health sciences education and training.
"Netagen integrates well and their solutions are priced competitively” — John Levay, Niagara College Director of Information Technology Services
Facts at a glance
Niagara College has grown substantially, serving 9,000 full-time students and 15,000 continuing education students annually at campuses in Welland, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
The college's existing technology architecture is not able to support HD video to deliver more dynamic health sciences education and training for its new Applied Health Institute.
Niagara College selected Netagen to layer the Avaya Desktop Video Device with the Flare Experience, Avaya Series 1000 Video Systems, Avaya Aura, and complimentary best video appliances on its existing technology architecture.
With video integrated into Niagara College's unified communications, the school met its objective of providing innovative learning experiences for health students; but it is also harnessing the power of video to increase collaboration through conferencing - all built on a cost-effective solution that can scale as Niagara College continues to grow.
“We teach some very interesting and delicate procedures; with HD video, the students are able to learn from each other, and review their work.” - David Veres, Dean, Community and Health Studies Division
The college also plans on going one step further with Flare, by offering the platform not just on Avaya's desktop devices, but on the entire team's iPads.
“We’re doing a lot of work with people across Ontario now, and with this video solution, we will be able to eliminate unnecessary travel, making our education more convenient and more affordable.” — John Levay, Niagara College Director of Information Technology Services
